The Canton Fair, officially known as the China Import and Export Fair, is the world's largest trade show and a cornerstone of global commerce since 1957. Held biannually in Guangzhou, China, it connects over 25,000 exhibitors with hundreds of thousands of buyers from more than 200 countries, showcasing innovations across industries.

The 2025 edition—the 138th session—is currently underway in its Autumn phase, running from October 15 to November 4, 2025, at the expansive China Import and Export Fair Complex (Pazhou Complex), covering 1.55 million square meters of exhibition space.

In 2015, China set out on an ambitious 10-year plan – dubbed “Made in China 2025” – to achieve self-reliance, innovation and strength in the manufacturing industry. At the time, the nation was known as the “world’s factory” and stood at the lower end of the global industrial value chain. A tech war between the US and China significantly impacted the plan. But despite geopolitical tensions, more than 86 per cent of Beijing’s goals have been met, with several remaining targets likely to be completed by the end of 2025.
